Regenerative Medicine: Helping
Your Body Heal Naturally
An exciting new approach which can greatly enhance the bodies ability
to heal is the use of platelet rich plasma. Once we have confirmed
your diagnosis, we can offer regenerative medical techniques that are,
many times, less invasive alternatives to surgery. Often, these
techniques prove more effective than conventional therapies. Click
here for more information on PRP.
Ultrasound-guided injections
The injection of drugs to relieve pain and reverse
the course of rheumatologic disease is made more accurate and effective
through our use of ultrasound guidance. These three P’s
of ultrasound guidance form the cornerstone of our approach:
- Precision: We can inject the
structure responsible for pain. This gives us a better result
and allows us to use smaller doses of medication.
- Performance: We cannot be sure
that a certain treatment is ineffective unless we know that it was
used correctly. Prior to proceeding with surgery we may recommend repeating cortisone or hyaluronic acid injections if they have been given before without ultrasound guidance.
- Possibilities: The possibilities
of helping to relieve pain in patients with arthritis are greatly expanded
if we can actually see what we’re doing. The promise of
regenerative medicine, where we induce the body to heal damaged areas
with cells/substances from the same person, is made possible by our
ability to identify the right injection target.
